The Magome-Juku
The Magome-Juku (post town) is the 43rd of 69 post towns built on the Nakasendo
route during the Edo period. It is approximately 332 kilometers from the point
of departure at Nihonbashi in Edo. Buildings were built on a foundation of
rocks laid on both sides of the steep sloping path. Honjin (a lodging for the
daimyo) and Wakihonjin (an annex) were located in the middle of the post town.
Additional facilities included an inn and a dining hall.
